Governor Jerry Brown signed two bills into law this past week: A.B. 90 – Human Trafficking, A.B. 131, The California DREAM Act and A.B. 6 – CalFRESH/Food Stamps. Many students at Archbishop Mitty H.S. have worked directly with these bills over the past four years. In addition to students at Archbishop Mitty, participating Catholic schools in Catholic Youth Advocacy Day in March of 2011 also worked with their legislators to get these two bills on the Governor’s desk.
Especially in these challenging economic times, legislation to help the least fortunate is such a commendable statement about our California legislature.
Congratulations students, teachers, and schools who have worked tirelessly for very little tangible gain to see laws like this help citizens of our state.
