Mitty Delegates Prepare for Nation’s Capital

Mitty Advocacy students on Capital Hill, 2010

Archbishop Mitty Advocacy students are preparing to attend the Ignatian Solidarity Network’s Teach-In at Georgetown University again this year.  For the past three months, Mitty students have selected and researched four primary issues to bring to the attention of our Congressman in Washington.

MAP’s Federal Bills for 2011-2012 are:

  • H.R. 1820:      Fighting Gangs and Empowering Youth Act of 2011
  • S. 596:             Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking Deterance Act
  • H.R. 2012:      Foster Care Mentoring Act of 2011
  • S. 1060:           Honoring All Veterans Act of 2011

The ISN Teach-In will be held this upcoming November 11th to the 15th.  Stay up-to-date with updates here on our Advocacy Page and be sure to check out ISN’s event page.

This year Mitty students will be presenting to Catholic university and high school students on Creating a Catholic Advocacy Day in Your State as well as conducting a break-out session on How to Create an Advocacy Program on Your Campus.  Congratulations Mitty students for another impressive display of leadership as advocates for the most vulnerable people in California and across the U.S.
